TOKYO 2020: JAPAN TURNS “ELECTRONIC JUNK” INTO OLYMPIC MEDALS

At the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, medals will be produced entirely from electronic waste.

The goal is to reuse precious metals from mobile phones, computers, among other gadgets that no longer have “remedy.”

Tokyo 2020 intends to use only renewable energy to provide electricity to the venues and the Olympic Village, and 65% of all waste generated should be recycled or reused.

As for Japan’s Olympic team, recycled clothing will be the garment. The brand Asics, responsible for the Japanese sportsmen’s gear, seeks to collect 30 thousand pieces of clothing used by athletes of various modalities and competitions.
