ZOURI

ZOURI

Portuguese footwear brand 100% vegan and sustainable, made of plastic collected from the ocean.

Not surprisingly, there is a greater demand for sustainable products. In this case, we are talking about Zouri, that uses no animal material and  it’s a product of its founder’s (Adriana Mano) passion for the preservation of nature and the love of the oceans.

Zouri’s concept is based on the usage of marine plastic garbage, as raw material in the production of footwear, thus avoiding its deposit and accumulation in the oceans.

This is possible because the brand has partnerships with several public organizations (where the agreement consists in all the plastic garbage being collected by the agents and deposited in Zouri’s containers) and non-governmental organizations that through volunteers help with cleaning the beaches of Northern Portugal. Thanks to this movement it was possible, in just one year, to collect a ton of garbage from Portuguese beaches.

The materials used by the brand are based on: PINATEX, a soft and flexible ecological leather that is easily dyed and non-polluting, made from pineapple fiber, certified organic cotton and natural rubber with recycled plastic from the ocean where the natural latex works as an agglomerator for the production of the plastic sole (from the garbage collection).

A pair can contain about  60 grams of plastic, which is equivalent to 5/6 plastic bottles. All materials are sustainable, organic and natural and the brand wants to keep its positioning unique and innovative, for not using any type of microfiber, leather or synthetic materials.

The models are timeless, both in neutral and irreverent colors, all handmade, which makes each of them more special.
