‘There have been and will continue to be many attempts to conciliate fashion, to dissolve it within a single concept, to confine it into a single space, to define it in a single form, to see it under a single perspective.’
In this season the topic MULTIPLEX became the result of a permanent and continuous work developed by Moda Lisboa in Portugal over the past 27 years, being an edition that reflects the lively, organic, multipurpose, multidisciplinary, aggregating and unpredictable form of how fashion develops in the world and amongst people.
On October 11, 12, 13 and 14 more than 30 shows took place between the 3 presentation platforms as well as the Sangue Novo contest. There were four different locations that welcomed the anticipated fashion week: the Carlos Lopes Pavilion, the Estufa Fria (Lisbon greenhouse), the National Museum of Ancient Art and the Botequim do Rei lake.

Names such as Valentim Quaresma, Ricardo Preto, Nuno Gama, Alexandra Moura (the return of the designer marks the beginning of the cooperation protocol established between Moda Lisboa and Portugal Fashion), Ricardo Andrez, Filipe Faísca, Kolovrat and Dino Alves confirmed why Moda Lisboa continues to be the stage of the best trends of Portugal straight to the world.
The fashion in its majority is not weary by the proposals presented by the designers and in what we see in the catwalk. Fashion is also the fashion that is thought and imagined in Fast Talks. This year the debate was centered in the ‘Street X Fashion’ being moderated by Joana Barrios with heavyweight guests like Raimo Diehl and Anton Zamiatie who represent FILA Europe; Adam Katz Sinding, photograph; Pedro Lima, creative director at Partners and founder of Sneakers Love Portugal; and Namalimba Coelho, communication advisor of the Berardo Collection Museum.
As for the artistic success of the platform workstation it became so clear that in Multiplex it started to represent a better comprehensive vision of the artistic patchwork that is lived during the events of the Moda Lisboa. To the usual exhibition of works of three selected photographers for this edition, the genius of three illustrators is joined as well as the talent of five fashion designers.
As for the magnificent pop up store of the Moda Lisboa, the Wonder Room, there were only fair winds and that’s because when the explosion of creativity is intrinsic the result can only translate in a happily ever after. Three days, nineteen brands, five designers and one artist. That was the Wonder Room’s cast in Multiplex.

And last but not least, for those who had the opportunity to visit the exhibit dedicated to the Portuguese footwear from ‘Portuguese Shoes’, wrapped in a merry-go-round that reminded us all of our childhood, combined with modernism, it made us believe that national fashion couldn’t indeed be in a better path.
