MONSTER IS ON SCENE

O MONSTRO ESTÁ EM CENA
Acontemporary reflection on the human being

The Angolan artist director – Ana Clara Guerra Marques – brought to the audience, once again, the show “The Monster is on the scene”, with the Company of Contemporary Dance of Angola, and Nuno Guimarães. (on 26/27/28 April).

The stage was the Portuguese Cultural Center, Camões, where the invitation to reflect on the human being as protagonist of a world where violence, individualism and intolerance grows, has led us to a strong moment of analysis.

The new capitalist models based on consumerism and the conflicts between different ethnic, religious or political groups, promote the emergence of new “walls” and resignation regarding the asymmetries between wealth and misery.

Gender issues and the condition of inferiority imposed on women are also the subject of this uncomfortable introspection on the human condition.

Gender issues and the condition of inferiority imposed on women are also the subject of this uncomfortable introspection on the human condition.

Two solitudes in contraposition construct and disrupt a double scenic object under the inspiration of the reflex, the fugacious, and the narcissist, of extreme self curiosity revealing itself choreographically as simultaneous difference and simultaneous identity.

We remind you that this Company, which is due to the great transformation of the dance scene in Angola, was founded in 1991, is a member of the UNESCO International Dance Council, has a history of hundreds of shows performed in Angola and abroad, with around dozens of original works, being the reference of the Angolan scenic dance in the world today.

With 27 years of existence, it occupies a privileged place in Angolan History, having sown the “new” in the vast dance soil where it continues to develop a unique and original artistic work.
